Objective / Summary

To Pastor a growing church. I accepted God’s call to preach over fifteen years ago; after three years of committed preparation I was licensed. My desire to be faithful to His call led me first to serve then to be educated. I earned a Master’s of Divinity from Virginia Union University in 2003, and was ordained in the same year. With a love for God’s people I have served in many capacities of the ministry; preaching, teaching, evangelism, community development, community outreach, and administration. I now serve as the Associate Pastor of Children and Youth under Dr. Lance D. Watson of St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. We hold four services each weekend to minster to over 12,000 members on three different campuses. As an Associate Pastor, I share in the responsibility for the entire congregation with our Sr. Pastor and five other Associate Pastors. Together we cover all age groups in Pastoral Care, the Worship Experience, performance of weddings and funerals, counseling, hospital visitations, and development of leaders to name a few. In addition, I have sole pastoral responsibility for the 25 ministries, monthly programming, worship services, budget controllership, and pastoral care for 3,000 children and youth. Although I am skilled in many areas of the ministry, my true passion is preaching for transformation! Over fifteen years of preaching experience has taught me to preach scripturally based, doctrinally sound, socially relevant, and practically applicable sermons. I endeavor in my preaching to show people how the awesome word of God can transform their whole life!

The Engle Institute is a continuing education event that was envisioned and made possible by the dream and generosity of Joe R. Engle, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in New York City. The institute is designed to nurture and strengthen the craft of those who preach, whether weekly or occasionally, whether in city, suburb, small town, rural community, or other specialized ministries. Engle Fellows and faculty gather to participate together in the hospitality of the seminar room, the dinner table, and the chapel pew. Engle Fellows reconnect vocationally with friends as they practice the craft of preaching in the company of colleagues.
